Tips For Choosing a Bathroom Fitter

If you’re looking to replace your tired, old bathroom with a new one, you want to make sure you have the right bathroom fitters for the job. We all know that choosing the right bathroom is half the battle because that part is probably the most enjoyable. Yes, you need to decide on your budget and pick something that works for you, your bathroom, your family and your personal style. It has to sing to you on so many different levels. Once that’s done the hard part is over.

Having your bathroom fitted is an important part of the change your room will undergo so it fits in with everything you’ve expected. If it isn’t fitted well and you’re faced with an army of problems and issues that require fixing, then this is going to be a nightmare unfolding before you over the new few weeks and months.

However, if you spend time choosing your bathrooms fitters well, you could have a bathroom that does nothing but give you pleasure from the moment they’re finished.

How do you ensure that you find the right bathroom fitter?

Experience and qualifications

How much experience do you think they have? Always check to see what they’ve done, who they’ve worked with and how many years experience they have in the job. This is every bit as important as their qualifications and accreditations. Ask them, ask to speak to former clients and find out what they thought of their work.

Are you comfortable having them in your home?

See if you get a feel for their attitude, their work ethic and what they’re like to interact with, are they the kind of people you think you can work with until the end of the fitting?

Quotes

Make sure you get quotes about what their work covers, quotes on everything basically. Make sure you know exactly what you’re going to get for the price and that it’s spelt out in clear English on a document you can refer to. Do you they clear up after themselves when they’re done and take away any excess materials, or is that left to you to do? Can you think of anything else you’d like to ask about the quote they’ve given you? Make sure it’s all ironed out before you sign anything or before they start work.

Payment plan

How do they expect you to pay them? Do you they do payment instalments, or do you just pay 50% upfront and the rest on completion? Whatever you do don’t give them all of it in cash upfront if they ask, this should have alarm bells ringing. A reputable company will not ask for all of it upfront but may expect you to pay a non-refundable deposit, and not usually in cash.

Building regulations

Are they familiar with any building regulations? Check, because they should if they’re going to be creating a new bathroom for you. If they’re qualified and experienced builders then they should be familiar with all regulations and be up to date with any registrations with government schemes which confirm that they’re competent to work with electricity and gas.

Do they follow up once they’re done?

They should provide follow-ups when they’re done just to make sure everything is working correctly after they’ve finished. Check that this will be the case.
